Kindergarten - 5th Grade
Students in Kindergarten - 5th Grade Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Modules participate in learning activities and projects that focus on one of 3 main pathways: Computer Science, Engineering or Biomedical Concepts. Students also practice teamwork, thinking skills, problem solving, communication and perseverance.

Kindergarten & First Grade
Module: The Sun, Moon and Stars
Engineering Pathway
During 1st semester, Kindergarten and 1st grade engineers investigated The Sun, Moon and stars. They designed playground structures to protect against harmful UV light.
Module: Structure and Function: Exploring Design
Engineering Pathway
After reading The Three Little Pigs, students built a house of straw, sticks or bricks. Their challenge was to build the house with good structure before the "Big, Bad Wolf" came....
Testing our Houses.....
Jack and the Beanstalk
After reviewing the story, Jack and the Beanstalk, students were challenged to build their own beanstalk. The beanstalk was to be as tall as possible and needed to stand on it's own. If students were able to meet this challenge, they were further challenged to add a "golden egg." They were asked to balance the egg on their beanstalk while maintaining balance and height.

Design a Paintbrush
Students were challenged to solve this modules problem - create a brand new paintbrush that can make skinny lines, fat lines and dots. Students used all previous activities regarding Structure and Function to design an create their own paintbrushes!

Second & Third Grade
Module: Stability and Motion: Science of Flight
Engineering Pathway
Engineering Pathway
Students learn about the forces involved in flight and design a solution to deliver aid supplies via an aircraft.
Students create "Teeter-Toters" to experience balanced and unbalanced forces.
Students designed and launched gliders to determine the best type of
wings and stabilizers for flight. They also used a flight simulator to practice flying gliders using the 4
forces of flight.

Fourth & Fifth Grade
Students explore the spread of infection and run an experiment to help find ways to prevent the spread of illness.
Biomedical Pathway
Biomedical Pathway
PLTW students investigating the lines of defense your body uses to keep you healthy.
